Will Walker

Lead Pastor/Elder

After six years as a missionary to college students at the University of Texas, and four years as an associate pastor at Coram Deo church in Omaha, NE, Will followed God’s call to plant Providence Church in the fall of 2010. What drives his teaching and leadership is a growing hope that the gospel really does change everything. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Will and his wife Debbie are the parents of two boys, Ethan and Holden.

Todd Stewman

Todd served for 19 wonderful years with Campus Crusade for Christ, both at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. In the summer of 2010, he left campus ministry to join the team to plant Providence Church. He loves the idea of growing a church that will influence a cultural, educational, and business center like Austin. But more than that, he loves the idea of a gospel-centered church that will plant churches, multiply leaders, and extend the Kingdom of God in our city and to the nations. Todd graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and Dallas Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Amy, have three girls, Lauren, Jessica, and Sophie.

Kendal Haug

After earning degrees from the University of Texas and from Dallas Theological Seminary, and 2-and-a-half years in Omaha working on staff with Coram Deo Church, Kendal moved back to his hometown of Austin to help Will and Debbie plant Providence Church. He is energized by leading in and pointing people towards worship that flows out of treasuring Jesus above all. Kendal has broad interests, but the city of Austin and all things music are near the top. You will likely catch him around town enjoying one of Austin's countless great coffeeshops, eateries, or live music venues. And he believes that vinyl is often the best way to listen to an album. Kendal and his wife Ashley have two daughters, Ruby and Frances, and a son, Hank.

You will usually find Ophelia spending time with her family outside (baseball diamond, soccer field, swimming pool), working out at the gym, or connecting with friends over good food and drink.

After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Jordan spent time as a worship leader, songwriter, and manager at a guitar company spanning from Fayetteville to India to Denver. He is passionate about connecting the people of God to the mission of His kingdom through worship and missions. While in school, she worked in a variety of fields including early childhood education, office administration, and personal training. Upon graduating, she and her husband, Alex, moved to Austin where she first worked at a local hospital in the Cardiac Rehab department. She now spends her time keeping up with their young daughter, Addilyn, and taking care of the day-to-day needs of Providence Kids. She has a passion for building relationships and loves getting to help carry out the Providence Kids mission of raising kids up in the Gospel. On a typical weekend, you’ll find Sara at a new coffee shop/eatery, doing home projects, or enjoying the Austin outdoors with her family.

Elders & Deacons

The Bible speaks of two offices in the church: elders and deacons. Elders serve the church by leading. They oversee and shepherd the flock (Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:1-2) through the ministry of the Word and prayer. Deacons lead the church by serving. They meet practical needs in a spiritual way through the various ministries of the church (Acts 6:1-7, 1 Timothy 3:13). Both offices point to Jesus, who is "the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls" (1 Peter 2:25) and "the Son of Man who came not to be served, but to serve" (Mark 10:45).
