A gospel-centered church in Austin, Texas

Harvey Relief Response

The effects of Hurricane Harvey are widespread and truly catastrophic. The immediate needs are dire, and the long-term work of rebuilding is, honestly, overwhelming. It will take months, and in some cases years, to restore Houston and areas along the coast to their former state.

Many of you have asked how you can help. We have been talking with pastors in Houston as well as our partners at Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN). Based on their guidance, here is what Providence Church is doing related to the relief effort:

Pray Continuously

Pray for all involved. Ask God to protect and provide, and to act for his name’s sake. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in Spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

Give Generously

We have set up a fund that allows you to give financially through Providence. 100% of the donations made to this fund will go directly to the relief efforts of our network churches in Houston. Go here to give now.

Serve Locally

ADRN is preparing to for an influx of evacuees into Austin, and is in need of trained volunteers to work in shelters. Training sessions last 3 hours, and are free. The next two sessions are Thursday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 5 (both at Glad Tidings Church off of 2222). Get more info and register for a training session here.

Go ... Eventually

There will soon be many opportunities to minister to people and help them rebuild their lives. We are looking into potential partners and dates for such trips, and will let you know as soon as we have something planned.

We are grateful for your eagerness to help. May this be a time when the church shines brightly so that many may see the goodness of God through the darkness! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@providenceaustin.com.

Grace and Peace,
The Providence Staff
